Lakes Nyírjes
Going on asphalt road towards Galibapuszta, leaving Kincsempuszta turning left, appr. 7 km in all or walking on foot through Kövecses hill, passing Belvedere Teréz, in front of Kincsempuszta keeping to west, then turning north paralel with electric power line appr. 6 km.Lakes Nyírjes and their environs are the recreational area of Palóc capital. From 1970 the nature reserve and the forests are simultaneously forest park.
In the valley Nyírjes seven fish ponds were created (later the sixth and seventh ponds are united). These fish ponds are fed on springs (long ago rich, nowadays reduced volume), one of these springs called Saint Virgin, where misses are sometimes held. The nature reserve protects the area of catchment basin of springs at the same time and it is joined nature reserve Égerláp of Ipolyszög (Alder-marsh). It is a pleasant place to take an excursion, the ponds – as watery habitat – give habitat for diverse flora and animal world.
